Professional Development Successful system of care change happens best when undertaken by professionals who understand what, where and how the new system is meant to work. Thus, a targeted training and development program is imperative for any organization making the shift from an ingrained, conventional approach for serving at-risk populations to a client-centered, community-based, culturally competent model. At Community Care, we view training as an investment of unquestionable value and offer our own gold standard to system managers looking for the tools to upgrade the knowledge and understanding of all stakeholders. A well-grounded training and professional development program must be considered when making a system change. The knowledge and awareness gap that exists between the vision of an integrated system of care and the reality of implementation can be wide and often involves the systematic re-engineering of attitudes, processes, organizations and systems. When Community Care consultants are asked to assist a community in adopting a client-centered model, they draw on long experience preparing the way for system of care development efforts in other communities across the country. Community Care training teams are skilled in both theory and practice, having worked to produce many successful system start-ups. Our consultants employ proven strategies to design customized training and professional development programs that support system success. The template for each customized program is based on a series of Community Care training modules that reflect the most current practice standards and competencies.
